Programme Objectives

Students who choose BCA Programme, develop the ability to think critically, logically,analytically and to use and apply current technical concepts and practices in the coredevelopment of solutions in the form of Information technology.The knowledge and skills gained with a degree in Computer Science prepare graduates for abroad range of jobs in education, research, government sector, business sector and industry.The program covers the various essential concepts in Computer Science. The course lays astructured foundation of Computer fundamentals, Numerical methods, Data structure,Algorithm and Complexity analysis, Software Engineering, Programming Concepts invarious languages(C, C++, Java etc.), Computer Networking, System Administration,Operating System, Computer Architecture, Microprocessor, Web technology, ComputerGraphics and Database management system etc.An exceptionally broad range of topics covering current trends and technologies in computerscience: Advanced web technology, Mobile application, Animation, Data mining etc. Also, tocarry out the hand on sessions in Computer lab using various Programming languages andtools to have a deep conceptual understanding of the topics to widen the horizon of students’self-experience.

Eligibility for Admission

To be eligible for admission into the B.C.A. 1st Semester class, a student has to pass the Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in Commerce, Science, or Arts stream under the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) or any other equivalent examination of Board / Council recognized by Gauhati University. Students who have passed the Higher Secondary examination with either Mathematics or Computer Science as one of the subjects obtaining minimum pass mark in the subject should be given preference at the time of admission. Students completing Diploma in CSE/IT from AICTE recognized institutes are also eligible for taking admission.

Document Verification Requirements

For document verification, candidates are required to produce the original copies of the following at the College office:

• Mark sheet of the last qualifying examination (HS).
• Registration Certificate / Migration Certificate of the board / council under which the last qualifying examination was appeared.
• Students passing the qualifying examination earlier than the current year will have to submit a Gap Certificate in the form of an Affidavit.
